The importance of improving data quality

I read an article about the importance of improving data quality, written by Bob Orf, president of DataMentors, a company specialized in data quality, and published in the BtoB Magazine.

He explains the growing concern with the data quality, and why the importance of improving data quality to the companies make better decisions based on more reliable data. The companies need to cut costs and for this they need the accuracy of databases to work more effectively. This leads to an increased use of data quality tools.

The concern with the data quality is one of the most important concerns that affect the companies nowadays. The problems with the called bad data or dirty data are increasingly a reason of concern because the poor data quality takes significant costs to the companies. To solve this issue, is very important the companies establish a policy of Data Governance, treating the data as a valuable corporate asset.
