Open Sesame: What You Need to Know about Open Source BI and Data Warehousing

Tomorrow, December 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm ET will happen a Webinar entitled Open Sesame: What You Need to Know about Open Source BI and Data Warehousing, with Claudia Imhoff, provided by Pentaho and Infobright.

According Pentaho: "Register now to hear Dr. Imhoff explain the data behind her just-published white paper on the industry's adoption of open source BI and data warehousing. This complimentary Webinar will be a one-hour master class on the current trends in open source BI, and you'll get our Open Source Business Intelligence: A 2008 Progress Report just for registering.

Key data points from her white paper include:
- According to Aberdeen, 25% of survey respondents will adopt open source BI in next 12 to 24 months
- For the first nine months of 2007, open source deal flows doubled each quarter
- Sun has made a significant commitment to open source with its $1 billion purchase of MySQL."

The Open Source Business Intelligence (OSBI) is an interesting alternative to implement a BI initiative, mainly in a scenario of recession, it is easier justify an open source BI to the companies, instead of traditional BI vendors.
